Life Tips for Thoughtful Seekers

You Can Change
Your Outlook

Your actions control your day. Your days control your life. Your thoughts control your actions. Thoughts matter!
Q: Who cares about my thoughts?

A: You care, God cares, and everyone else cares. Thoughts impact your life because they guide your behaviors and your reactions to the world around you through your emotions. Do you want to be happy? Of course you do. We all want to be happy. Then take control of your thoughts!

God wants you to love the life He has blessed you with, and you can. Change your perspective. You control your perspecitve. You are not a victim of your mind, your mind is a victim of what you do with it each day. So you decide what you want your mind to do and go to work changing it into the outlook you desire. Fill your mind with thoughts you want it to repeat. Be careful what you read, what you watch, who you read...these all help to determine what you think.
Q: How can I contorl my thoughts?

A: Practice. If you have ever had a what is called a lucid dream, where you realize during the dream that you are in control and maybe even realize you are dreaming, then you have already expereicned taking control of your thoughts. But you can control your thoughts much more easily and consistently while awake than while asleep.

First, break the negative thought ruts. When you notice you are thinking a negative thought over and over, stop. Like blinking your eyes, or glancing away for a second, simply change the view. Think of something else. Distract yourself. Everytime that thought comes again, change the subject and you will get stuck in that negative rut, less and less.

Second, build better ruts. Thoughts have a tendency to repeat because the brain likes to do what it did yesterday. So build your own postive ruts. Spend time thinking optimisitcally about your day, your life, and those around you. We too often build negative ruts...counter that by building postive ruts. You will find your thoughts will start to get stuck in postive patterns and your emotions will improve, your behaviors will  make you proud, and you days will build the life you want.
