An Imagined Dialog Between a Human (H) and an Angel (A) about Seeing God |
H: Have you ever seen God?
A: Yes, I have. But it is not like what you think. H: What is it like? A: I cannot explain it in man's terms. But, yes, I have been with God. I am standing there now. H: But you are here, talking with me. A: As I said, it is not like what you think. God is everywhere. I am here with you. And God is here with me. H: So what is God like? A: I cannot fully explain in man's terms. To you, God is like many different things. Humans do not fully understand because of your finite side. Angles do not have a finite side. We are more like your soul than your flesh. God is more like your soul in His way of existence. He is many things. H: People are many things. We are fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, workers, students, we are many things. A: God is many things at once, not during separate times. Humans act as one thing at a time, God does not. This is why many humans are confused when seeking to understand God. God is both one and many. Humans do not have this concept, so humans are confused. God is both fully loving and fully just. Humans think punishment means love is not present, but that is because humans focus only on the pain, not the reward coming in the future. Humans' finite side blinds them to the reality of the true world, the infinite world. Humans are so blind; we wish you could see. H: What do you wish we could see? A: Everything. The way it really is. It is beautiful and glorious. The feelings, the way it all is woven together. The plan, the unfolding of the plan. The incredible symphony of life and human and angel existence. You have an important purpose, but you do not even know it. Yet you still play your part. It is beautiful. H: So let me ask, what is the one thing humans get wrong the most? A: That God deserves the thanks. H: That's it? A: It is a very big mistake. It saddens me. It saddens us all. H: Why does it make you sad? A: Because God is so wonderful and you fail to see that over and over again. Humans have a self obsession that angels do not. So we do not understand you, but it makes us sad. If you only knew how wonderful God was, you would have great joy, more joy than you can find in the finite world. A joy so deep and so pure that it will last through anything you experience. Like a friend who is just a phone call away. This joy will never leave you. For the humans that do not have this joy, I am sad. H: So you are sad for us? A: Yes, I am. We all are. H: So then what advice would you give to the humans that do not give God the proper credit? A: Seek God with all your heart and you will discover an unending joy and purpose in your life like nothing you have ever experienced before. Your life's purpose can only be found in knowing God. Anything else you do with your time is wasted time until you know Him. The gift waiting for you is moments away if you would only try. Have some faith in what you cannot see, what you do not understand. Life is misunderstood by humans as the time before the body dies. But human life, the soul, is not defined by the finite world. Human life only exists in the infinite. Stop wasting energy on the finite and instead focus on the infinite.
