Life Tips for Thoughtful Seekers

You Can Change
Your Outlook

Failure, hardships, disappointment, weaknesses will all produce fear. But fear is not real. Fear is always fictional. Fear is always based on events that have NOT happened yet. Fear is imagined. So fear might be right, it might be wrong, but fear can be modified.
Q: How can I modify my fear?

A: By spending time with God. God doesn't want you to be afraid, God wants you to be courageous. Fear does not come from God. Fear is against God. God is love. God is peace. God is joy. Spend time with God through prayer, the bible, meditation, study, fellowship, being charitable, serving others...pursue God and fear will stop pursuing you.

Fear stands ready to invade, but joy must build up. Build joy and fear will have no place to stand in your mind.

You can be freed from fear. God wants that for you, I promise. God will free you from fear, simply pursue God and you will find the peace you seek.

Q: Will it be hard to change?

A: Not as hard as it will be to stay how you are. Living in fear is living in a prison of your own making, a prison in your own head. Many people simply accept thoughts and emotions that come into the mind, as if there is no choice. There is a choice. Like anything else in life, emotional responses and thought responses are learned, so they can be unlearned.

The common statement is '________ made you afraid.' But nothing can "make" you afraid. Outside of the extreme examples of trauma, phobias, anxiety disorders, for most of us, fear is modifiable.
Deconstruct your fears. Sit down, think them through, take inventory...when do you feel afraid, what signs trigger your fears, make a detailed list. Then consider why those signs trigger your fears. Think through what exactly you think might happen in the worst case scenario. What would life be like if that actually came to pass? How likely is that outcome? Is there anything you can do to make it less likely? How hard would it be to take the actions to reduce the likelihood of the worst case scenario? Then think through why those signs trigger your fear. What happened in your past? How likely is that event to occur again?

Finally, are you ready for something better? If so, see below.
